More than 100 selectable seminar events complement the compulsory and examination subjects with courses on personal development as well as current management and subject-related topics. They cover the entire course of study and are independent of the content of the subject modules.
Information on registering for and deregistering from seminars and on compulsory participation in seminars can be found in the "Seminar Information Sheet" at CIS intranet.
Academical education and corporate practice are more permeated than ever by scientific processes. In order to be able to learn efficiently right from the start, it is therefore important that you are able to work scientifically and make optimal use of the relevant methods. Appropriately, in the first semester there is the seminar course "Scientific Work and Methods", which must be attended by all students.
Foreign languages
To help you to cope with an international working environment, NORDAKADEMIE's foreign language courses are a central component of the dual Bachelor's degree program. We meet the growing demands on language skills with foreign language courses as compulsory and elective subjects.
Our native speakers not only teach in their language, they also impart know-how about the respective country's culture. Classes are held in small groups according to previous knowledge.
At NORDAKADEMIE you can acquire internationally recognized certificates. These include the
- Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English
- Diplôme de Français des Affaires de la Chambre de Commerce et d’Industrie de Paris
English is a required subject in all bachelor's degree programs due to its overwhelming importance as a global business language.
French or Spanish are required subjects in the Business Administration and Industrial Engineering program, and electives in the Business Information Systems and Applied Computer Science program.

Application process
1. Preparation phase
First of all, find out here what dual study means and what advantages a dual study program has for you. Also take a look at the list of study places in the desired starting period. We recommend that you draw up a list of companies where you would like to complete the practical part of your training. Think about your goals and wishes (e.g. industry, location, course of study) and choose companies that suit you and your ideas.
Problems with decision making? No problem! Our student advisors will be happy to advise you in detail.
2. Selection procedure
Your second step towards studying with us is the online selection procedure (this is not yet an application!). The procedure involves entering the grades of your last four half-year reports (German/Math/English), a math and English test, a personality test, and a motivation test. Take two and a half hours and keep your reports at hands. Two to three working days after you have completed the test, you will receive a downloadable PDF showing whether you have passed or not. Have the PDF ready for step 3.
3. Application to our partner companies
Have you successfully passed the selection process? Great, then you're almost there! Now take your company wish list from step 1, because the third and final step is your application to the partner company. You can find out more about the application requirements for each company on their websites. When formulating your application, respond individually to the companies and avoid "collective applications".
Send your application together with the selection procedure PDF to the partner companies of your choice or use their application portal to upload the files.
Duration of study
The dual Bachelor's program at NORDAKADEMIE lasts seven semesters - and thus one semester longer than generally at a university. There is a good reason for this: Our partner companies have come to the conclusion that six semesters are not enough to convey all the relevant practical and theoretical content. For you, this means: You have enough time for a solid education and acquire sufficient qualifications to actively work in the company. In addition, you will earn 210 credit points instead of just 180 - the basic requirement for a part-time master's degree at NORDAKADEMIE.
Theory/practice transfer
In the dual Bachelor's program at NORDAKADEMIE, you also acquire credits for the practical phases. To acquire a total of 30 credit points for the practical phases, examinations in the form of transfer achievements theory/practice (formerly "practical reports") are therefore planned.
Transfer performances serve to document learned connections between theory and practice. Here you can show that you can link the competencies acquired in the company with the contents taught in the theory phases, evaluate them on the basis of these and place them in an overall context within the course of study.
Living and learning at the Elmshorn sustainability campus
On the almost 18,000 m2 grounds of NORDAKADEMIE in Elmshorn you can learn, live, eat and socialize. The spacious campus, which is close to nature, invites you to spend time in the fresh air and has modern buildings, an Audimax, a cafeteria and a dormitory. This makes Elmshorn an attractive university location in the greater Hamburg area.
You can reach the train station in Elmshorn within a 10-minute walk from the campus.
Since January 2015, NORDAKADEMIE has been operating a university-owned dormitory in Elmshorn. In addition, you can rent a single room on the NORDAKADEMIE campus in the student dormitory run by the private operator EMV Immobilien-Management. The low-energy building consists of two floors with 20 rooms each.
