Admission requirements for foreign students

Voraussetzungen-für-duales-Bachelorstudium-NORDAKADEMIE-Checkliste

A dual study program is an excellent option for anyone who wants to combine theoretical education and practical work experience from the start of their career.

Would you like to live in Germany for a certain period of time and study here? Then you should consider whether you meet all the requirements and, for example, have a higher education entrance qualification for a German university or need a visa. Four steps on your way to Germany.

First, find out what a dual study program is and how a dual study program at NORDAKADEMIE works.

1) Language level

The language of instruction for all our degree programs is German. At the time of application (or at the latest at the start of your studies), you should have language skills of at least level B2, or better still level C1/C2. We do not require a certificate, but we cannot compensate for disadvantages due to language barriers.

2) Recognition of your international school-leaving certificate

If you obtained your school-leaving certificate outside Germany, we need proof of your higher education entrance qualification in Germany (HZB) before you can start the application process*.

NORDAKADEMIE itself does not have its own recognition office for international qualifications and therefore works together with uni-assist e.V., the employment and service center for international student applications.Uni-assist e.V. checks your certificates and prepares a so-called preliminary examination documentation (VPD)
You will need the VPD to start the application process at NORDAKADEMIE by taking the online selection test. On the website of uni-assist e.V. you will find all information on how to apply for the VPD for NORDAKADEMIE.

Attention!
Applying to uni-assist e.V. for the pre-assessment documentation does not replace the subsequent application to NORDAKADEMIE via the online selection test and the applications to the partner companies.

*An exception to this rule is the German general higher education entrance qualification recognized by the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs, which was obtained at a German school abroad, the Austrian school-leaving certificate and the Swiss gymnasiale Matura.

3) Applying for a visa

The visa is applied for at the German diplomatic mission in your home country before you enter Germany. Please note that this can take several months.
On the websites of the German embassies and consulates you will find all the information about applications, contact persons and opening hours.Normally you apply for a visa at the embassy/consulate closest to your place of residence.
You can find a list of all German missions abroad here: Auswärtiges Amt/Auslandsvertretungen.

Citizens of Australia, Great Britain, Israel, Japan, Canada, New Zealand, South Korea and the United States of America as well as Andorra, Brazil, El Salvador, Honduras, Monaco and San Marino are currently exempt from this regulation. These persons may apply for a residence permit at the immigration office after entering the country.

4) No NC at NORDAKADEMIE - but an online selection procedure

In contrast to many traditional degree programs in Germany, for which a numerus clausus (NC) applies, universities usually rely on a special selection procedure for dual degree programs. This enables a fairer and more individual assessment of applicants.

NORDAKADEMIE also has a specially developed online selection test procedure that applicants first go through.
The procedure includes entering the grade point average, a math and English test, an intelligence test, a personality test and a motivation test.Take about 2 hours for this.
Please note that you will need a certificate that is recognized in Germany and can be converted to the German grading system.

5) Double application for a study place - at NORDAKADEMIE and at the partner company

In addition, it is essential to start looking at potential practice partners at an early stage (from 12 months before the start of your studies). NORDAKADEMIE's free list of study places will help you to find the best practice partner for you.
On the linked websites of the companies, you can then find out about the respective requirements for applying to the company.

6) What costs can I expect?

Your wallet stays full! NORDAKADEMIE is a private university, but does not charge students any tuition fees.
During the seven semester standard period of study, the practice partners cover the tuition fees and also pay you an industry-standard training salary, even during the theoretical phases on campus! You will only be responsible for any costs incurred for teaching materials and your living expenses.
